Proven asset management and transport intelligence solutions for rail, ports, and road - built from a decade of real-world delivery across APAC and the Americas

Millions of passengers judge your operation every single day. Not on your KPIs - on whether the service ran. COSOL keeps the assets, data, and decisions behind that promise connected, reliable, and always on.

Passengers Do Not Care About Your Maintenance Strategy. They Care If The Train Showed Up.

Passenger transport operators are judged every day by the travelling public - not by their maintenance KPIs, but by whether the train ran on time and the doors worked. The organisations consistently delivering on that promise are not necessarily the ones with the newest assets. They are the ones where asset condition data, maintenance scheduling, and field execution are connected tightly enough to get ahead of failure before the passenger notices.

What we see consistently across the sector is a gap between what operators know and what they can act on. Data exists, but it sits across disconnected systems, inconsistent formats, and separate teams who each hold a piece of the picture. When an incident occurs, leaders scramble for information rather than reaching for it. That is a solvable problem. But solving it requires more than a new platform, it requires someone who understands the business context in which the technology is being applied.

That is where COSOL is different. Our people are not generalist technologists. They are asset management specialists who understand rolling stock, linear infrastructure, maintenance planning, field operations, and contractual compliance from the inside. When we implement enterprise asset management systems, integrate operational data with enterprise platforms, or deploy mobile tools that put real-time work orders in the hands of field crews, the technology is always in service of a specific operational outcome.

As Scott McGowan, our CEO, puts it:

organisations that get lost in the pollution of data are usually the ones who integrated without first being clear on the metrics that matter.
COSOL have been working in transport for over a decade across APAC and the Americas, and we stay in the operation long after go-live: running, managing, and continuously improving the platforms our transport customers depend on every day.

"In public transport, asset failure is not an operational inconvenience - it is a broken promise to the passenger”

Every Transport Leader We Meet Is Navigating the Same Tensions

These are not new problems. But in a transport environment where contracts are performance-based, budgets are shrinking, and public scrutiny is intensifying, the cost of leaving them unresolved keeps rising.

Tension Table:

The Pressure The Conflict It Creates
Service Reliability Maximising network availability vs. finding maintenance access windows that do not disrupt passengers
Customer Experience Passenger expectations of on-time, informed, comfortable journeys vs. the reality of ageing infrastructure
Maintenance Philosophy Pressure to cut reactive maintenance costs vs. the investment required to build genuine service continuity
Workforce Model Retaining experienced trades knowledge vs. enabling a digital-native workforce that works from data, not paper
Capital Allocation Pressure to expand network capacity vs. the ongoing need to sustain performance of existing assets
Public Accountability Community and government expectations of service levels vs. the operational budget reality on the ground
Safety Obligation Regulatory compliance and safety case requirements vs. the commercial pressure to maintain service frequency
Data Visibility Decisions being made across maintenance, finance, and operations without a single consistent version of truth
None of these tensions disappear with better intentions or harder work. They ease when the data infrastructure underneath the operation is solid enough to give every function, from the field team to the boardroom, the same accurate, real-time picture. That is the problem COSOL solves.

Our track record in transport

We have managed multiple Enterprise Asset Management systems (EAMaaS) for transport operators state authorities across Australia and the Americas, some for over a decade, delivering 99.99% uptime service agreements and 24/7 platform monitoring.
We implemented Australia’s largest real-time data module based on the globally recognised SIRI protocol in the transport sector.

An Australian first, our real-time data solution processed raw data for an Australian train operator in under 1.5 seconds, improving passenger communications from “now now” to precise timing updates, and allowed for bespoke passenger messaging based on a range of scenarios and applied against a set of business rules.
Recognised as innovators in rail, we were selected by the ARA to do a joint presentation with Metro Trains Sydney at the 2024 AusRAIL conference on how we used data and technology to enhance passenger experience and improve operations.
We delivered one of Australia’s most complex rail data, predictive analytics systems and reporting platforms, covering 36km of track, 13 stations and 2000+ weekly services, and did so for several years
An Australian rail operator we worked with went from spending 3-4 hours each day on operational reporting to just 16 minutes. That was an annual approximate of up to 900 hours saved which they were able to spend on strategic work.
One of our transport clients was able to forecast their energy impact up to one year in advance with 99% accuracy using our sustainability suite predictive module.
We improved vehicle monitoring for our rail client, allowing them to receive updates from vehicles every 12 seconds and track progress against the target schedule in real time.
Recognised as leaders in transport data analytics, we were asked by Transport for New South Wales to talk about data, analytics and machine learning in the context of transport with SMEs across their organisation.

What Decades of Transport Experience Actually Looks Like in Practice

Metro Trains Sydney - Sydney, NSW, Australia

Problem: MTS operates Australia's first fully accessible, driverless metro service supporting more than 70 million passenger journeys every year. Manual, error-prone reporting consumed hours each day, limiting visibility into service performance and compliance at a time when the network could not afford blind spots.
Result: Reporting time dropped from 4 hours to 16 minutes. Accuracy reached 99.9%. A single source of operational truth was established across the network. On-time performance reached 99.4% through proactive risk identification. COSOL now provides 24/7 managed services, running and enhancing the data and digital platforms that keep the Metro performing.

"We achieved far more than expected - not tenfold, but a hundredfold improvement."

Pacific National - National, Australia
Image
Problem: Australia's largest diversified rail freight operator needed a single, consistent approach to asset management across a national operation spanning more than 100 sites, 3,500 staff, and an asset base covering locomotives, wagons, infrastructure, and mobile fleet.
Result: Maximo implemented across the entire asset base. The national operation now runs from one data model with standardised processes. Asset condition monitoring generates actionable alerts that give maintenance teams the lead time to intervene before failure. Long-term managed support keeps the platform current and performing.

ENSCO Rail - Pueblo, Colorado, United States

Problem: When ENSCO won the maintenance contract for the Federal Railroad Administration's (FRA) Transportation Technology Center - one of the most significant rail research and testing facilities in the United States - they inherited fragmented data, outdated systems, and raw spreadsheets as their only asset management tool. Reliability was at risk from day one.
Result: COSOL delivered EAMaaS on IBM Maximo Application Suite 9.0, taking the system from contract to go-live in 10 weeks. FRA collaboration was enabled, mobile workforce capability was activated, and a self-service portal replaced manual email-based work requests entirely.

Where would you like to start?

For operational leaders (Heads of Maintenance, Operations, Engineering)
Your operation is generating data. Is it working hard enough for you?
Most transport teams are sitting on more insight than they realise. The problem is not a lack of data - it is a lack of connection between the data that exists and the decisions that need to be made. If your team is still spending hours on reporting, reacting to failures instead of anticipating them, or working from different versions of the truth, we should talk.

For strategic and executive leaders (C-Suite, Program and Project Management)
Long-term contracts require a partner who is accountable for outcomes, not just delivery.
The transport operators securing multi-year contracts and growing patronage are the ones who can demonstrate performance with data their clients trust. COSOL's Transport Suite means we stay in the operation, accountable for the platform, the accuracy, and the outcomes. If you are thinking about the next contract cycle or the next phase of your network's maturity, let us show you what that looks like in practice.
