Mining

In mining, the cost of getting asset management wrong is measured in tonnes, hours, and dollars. We help you get it right.

We are a trusted, data-led asset management partner for mining organisations that cannot afford to fail, and we are known for delivering outcomes that hold up where it counts - on site, in the field, and under pressure.

Mining organisations do not have a technology problem. They have a reliability problem.

The mining operations that consistently outperform their peers are not necessarily the ones with the newest equipment or the most advanced digital platforms. They are the ones where asset strategy, maintenance practice, operational data, and the systems that run daily work are genuinely aligned - and where that alignment is actively maintained over time, not designed once and left to drift.

Most organisations we engage with are running some version of the same underlying challenge: Asset data that has never been properly structured, maintenance strategies that have not kept pace with how the operation has changed, or EAM and ERP systems generating data that nobody fully trusts. And digital programs being built on top of all of this, with the expectation that new technology will compensate for what the foundation lacks.

It will not. 25 years of working inside mining operations - from large-scale iron ore and metallurgical coal production to gold, copper, and surface mining - across APAC and the Americas has shown us exactly what happens when it tries.

What COSOL brings is not a product, and it is not a one-time fix. We bring deep mining expertise, embedded operational experience, and a managed capability that covers the full asset lifecycle - from maintenance strategy and workforce capability through to EAM optimisation, data quality, and always-on managed support. Mining organisations we work with most effectively treat reliability as a business outcome, not a maintenance metric. We help them build it, sustain it, and improve it every day.

The tensions your team is managing every day

Every mining organisation we work with is navigating a similar set of competing pressures. Recognising them clearly is the starting point for doing something meaningful about them. Is your mining operation experiencing the below?
The Pressure The Conflict
Maintenance Philosophy Maximum equipment availability vs. planned maintenance schedule adherence
Remote Operataions Centralised maintenance planning vs. FIFO workforce mobilisation costs
Parts and Inventory Minimise holding costs vs. zero stockout tolerance for critical spares
Technology Adoption Digital mine ambition vs. site-level change management reality
OEM Dependency Warranty and OEM service obligations vs. in-house technical capability desire
Sustainability Pressure ESG commitments across scope 1, 2 and 3 vs. operational energy intensity of production
None of these tensions disappear on their own. Mining organisations with reliable asset data, well-designed systems, and strong maintenance strategies manage them far better than those without - and the difference shows up directly in production performance and cost.

Mining - work we have done, results that are real

Here are three examples of what genuinely changes when asset management is done properly, by people who understand the mining industry from the inside.
New Acland Coal/ New Hope Group - Surface Mining, Queensland
Digital Asset Management | APAC

At New Acland Coal, spatial data sits at the centre of every daily decision on site - and for years, that data could not be trusted. Decades of paper-based permit management had created multiple conflicting spatial datasets, datum errors of up to 200 metres, and a growing risk of near-miss compliance breaches that carried serious legal and reputational consequences. COSOL implemented a cloud-based Permit Management System and Spatial Viewer on Esri ArcGIS, creating a single authoritative spatial record for the entire operation.
The result: 63 permits are now managed digitally end-to-end with a full audit trail, datum conversion errors have been eliminated entirely, and sister company Bengalla adopted the same platform after seeing what New Acland Coal built.

"The COSOL team are obviously the right people for the job. Everyone had their place, they knew what they were talking about, and it all came together in the one package."

- Martin Leggat

Arch Resources - Metallurgical Coal, United States
Asset Management as a Service | Americas
Arch Resources logo
Arch Resources had reached a breaking point with their Ellipse EAM system. Years of failed upgrades had left the platform significantly behind, carrying accumulated custom code and workarounds with no clear path forward. Previous migrations had run well over budget, missed deadlines, and disrupted operations badly enough that Arch was seriously considering abandoning Ellipse entirely. COSOL delivered the migration through the EAMaaS Evergreen subscription model - designed, managed, and supported entirely in the cloud - with initiation through to go-live completed in 16 weeks.
The result: System downtime was reduced from over 60 hours to 13 hours on the first Evergreen upgrade, and then to 8 hours on the second - delivered on time and on budget both times. Arch Resources is now committed to a predictable annual upgrade cycle with full confidence in the platform going forward.

"My advice to others considering the COSOL EAMaaS solution is don't wait. EAMaaS enables scheduled incremental Ellipse version advancements that enable rather than distract our day-to-day business."

Teck Resources - Surface Mining, Canada
Digital Asset Management | Americas
Teck Resources logo
Teck Resources needed to transition three mine sites in Canada away from paper-based preventive maintenance inspections - not by simply converting old documents into a digital format, but by building a process that improved accountability, reduced errors, and generated data rich enough to drive better decisions on scheduling, procurement, and training. COSOL deployed OnPlan across all three sites, working with Teck's reliability team to design a standardised digital inspection document structure from the ground up, built with the detail, triggers, and pass/fail criteria that make work easier to do correctly the first time.
The result: Unnecessary PMOs have been reduced through more confident crack monitoring at the asset level, accountability for work completion has improved significantly across trades, and the rich inspection data now being captured is informing scheduling, procurement, and training decisions across all three sites.

"There is a light at the end of the tunnel - the most important thing is to just get started. The next step is digital, which lays a foundation for a lot of other improvement programs."
