CDU Scholarship

Supporting the next generation of skilled professionals

News by COSOL /

In this article, we introduce two of the COSOL's CDU Engineering Scholarship recipients and learn about how the scholarship has helped them as they work towards a career in engineering and technology.

Since 2020 COSOL has been working with Charles Darwin University (CDU) to support the next generation of engineering and technology students through a scholarship program.

Now in its third year, the COSOL CDU Engineering Scholarship is delivered in partnership with CDU which is the largest education and training provider and only university in the Northern Territory. Since its establishment, the scholarship has helped support three Engineering Science students who displayed high academic performance, a passion for their course, and a strong intention to use their skills through ongoing employment in the NT on graduation.

As a business that works with asset-intensive organisations right across Australia and New Zealand, it is important to us that we build community connections and contribute to creating opportunities within the regions we operate in. These activities include supporting local businesses where possible, recruiting from local workforces where skills and expertise are available, and supporting non-of-profits groups and organisations in Australia. The COSOL CDU Engineering Scholarship is one such initiative which aims to support the next generation of skilled engineering professionals while helping to support the skills requirements within the Northern Territory specifically.

FINANCIAL AID ALLOWS FOCUS ON LEARNING

The COSOL CDU Engineering Scholarship was established to financially support high-achieving engineering students in their studies. The scholarship provides each successful student with $2,500 per semester towards tuition costs, something that recipients acknowledged was invaluable for their studies.

In 2020, the CDU judging committee awarded the scholarship to Hayden Zanker and in 2022, the recipient was Nicholas Glinatsis.  Here is what they each had to say:

Hayden Zanker - 2020 recipient:

“I was fortunate enough to be awarded the COSOL Scholarship by the Charles Darwin University judging committee in 2020. It helped me in my studies by easing the financial burden of university, allowing me greater time to focus on my studies instead of outside employment. This support of students is always greatly appreciated and is a testament to Clarita Solutions' care for emerging professionals.”

Nicholas Glinatsis - 2022 recipient:

“The COSOL Scholarship has greatly assisted me financially, allowing me to purchase additional resources such as textbooks that enhance my learning experience. I am extremely grateful to a recipient of the COSOL Scholarship.”

CDU is a multi-sector university that provides training and education to more than 21,000 students across its eight campuses and centres in the Northern Territory and Australia. It is one of Australia’s top-performing universities with 92.5% of Engineering & Technology graduates securing full-time employment within four months of completing their studies.

COSOL's involvement with CDU's Scholarship Program will continue in 2023 and continue to support the development of a skilled workforce to bolster the Northern Territory’s business and industries into the future.

The next COSOL Engineering Scholarship with CDU will open for applications on 21 November 2023 until 10 March 2024. Applicants can view and apply for the scholarship via the CDU Scholarship Finder.
