Austube Mills is the industry-leading Australian manufacturer of high-quality steel pipe and tube products, locally made to certified national standards and delivered by responsive and reliable steel industry experts. Spanning 80 years in business and bringing almost 4,000 years combined staff industry experience to the table, Austube Mills is proudly Australian and proudly continuing to deliver stable, credible and high-quality service and products in the Australian steel industry.
With plant and equipment reaching into tens of millions of dollars, IBM Maximo is employed to manage the maintenance of the firm’s heavy engineering equipment.
In June 2010, Austube Mills was running Maximo 5.2 and facing demand for increased functionality as well as the pending end of support for this superseded version of the product. Despite previously working with other business partners, COSOL clearly demonstrated their expertise with the Maximo suite of products and provided the most competitive upgrade proposition.
COSOL was engaged to undertake the upgrade from Maximo 5.2 to 7.1 and at the same time worked with Austube Mills to develop customised reports as well as integrating with the inventory component of the firm’s financial systems running on SAP. COSOL was responsible for project management, installation, data conversion, customised development, testing and training for the Maximo upgrade project, which was completed on time and budget.
Development of customised reporting focused on planning and scheduling efficiencies as well as work control and review. Custom reports were important as they supported company-specific procedures and processes. COSOL was closely involved in both the analysis and development of these reports.
Clarita have satisfied each and every expectation we had and have proved a valuable asset management partner.
On the strength of the expertise demonstrated through this engagement, Austube Mills have since chosen to migrate to COSOL’s cloud solution, Enterprise Asset Management as a Service (EAMaaS) with Managed Service Support.
“I have always found the team at COSOL to be exceptionally competent, courteous and professional,” says Austube Mills IT Manager during the upgrade, Steve Thurecht. “With the downturn in Australia’s steel industry driving pressure on operational efficiency, Maximo is clearly a critical business system for our organisation. COSOL have satisfied each and every expectation we had and have proved a valuable asset management partner.”
